After 12 years away he must build up a relationship and a friendship with a child he doesn't know. Authentic and heart-warming it deals brilliantly with war, separation and friendship, as well as giving readers an insight into contemporary British life for a Somali family.

salamu calakum The other day you came into mii skool to talk about u'r self and your new book i read the book that mii sister won in a raffle and was blown away it was very truthfull as i don't really see many authors write about issues like that. However i do feel that many of the older people in the somali communtiy would not approve of it because of its context and would feel very upset that their childern would be be open to the few context of the book including the cusin furdos because they may feel their childern are too young.
However i felt the book was very entertaing and thought it was very touching with the scene with the girl in the veil and lisa the convert musilm - I felt the character lisa mirrored you. To improve the book i think we should have got to know the family more and find out what happened to ahmed that made him a better person and musim. Overall a very good and interesting book that should have a sequel...i also commented on u're facebook blog..elaykuma salam.. yasmin
Phenomenal I tell ya. Mashallah wut u've already told me abt da book got me really hungry 4 more, gud job Safia left a lil saink behind (Shh) lol Walaahi its such a touching storyline. Wut amazes me more is ders not even an ounce of Somali in u yet u really captured finks frm a true Somalians perspective and I so luv da way u av da Somali lingo ere n der lol Iska Soomaali baa tahaay, booqolki iyo booqol lol (See if u can read dat n understand it) Zainab
